Graffiti transforms public space into an exhibition space accessible to all. Sprayers use buildings, pillars and other supports as a canvas and stage. They find their place in places that are sometimes hidden, sometimes visible. At night, usually without permission and under cover of darkness, they spray their messages and motifs on them. Sometimes graffiti is personal, sometimes political, sometimes abstract. Sometimes they are only comprehensible to the initiated. For my series, I chose sprayers whose art fascinates me. I used the available light sources around their graffiti to portray them. With my series, I want to stimulate a discussion: What is the significance of graffiti art in the context of culture, society and politics? When is it recognized, when is it rejected?
